Thursday December 2: Today in class me and my partner Jocelyn Maldonado made about 5 posters that will go up around La sierra Campus. These posters will help people get an idea about what our project is about. For tomorrow we planned to decorate the posters a bit more, mostly with glitter sticks. This will Help by bringing the point across but to attract the eye of the readers as well.

2010 Campaign AD
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0mp99eEaic&feature=player_embedded
My campaign ad isn’t about any of the
propositions that are being proposed right now in the elections. This ad
focuses on something way more important which is me and my classmate’s
education. All the propositions that are being looked at and not one completely
focus’s on education reform and I ask why? I am ashamed of my country for proposing
the legalization of marijuana but not just that, that’s a main focus and our
schools once again are left unnoticed. This ad is mainly about mothers who are
concerned for their children. Not just their children’s education but their
healthcare and future. I picked this ad over the rest because I know my grandma
(mom) would be the first in line to do it. I think parents need to be more
outspoken for their children’s future. The kid can only do so much then it’s up
to the parent to take a stand. I know all mothers in specific are mother bears
towards their children. Then why cant parents, teachers, and educators protect
their cubs in need. Take a stand for
your children’s future and your own. Too many voices can create a blur but if
no voices are speaking then what’s the point of a breath?

Students have voices to!
Obama faces hard questions and the students want answers! Obama is faced with real life questions by young students who went their to hear a "because" or a "this is why" to their questions. Obama is most certaintly a target in this questioner conversation but respectfully answers their questions with what he feels is the correct answer.

Class discussion Senate Bill 1070 Reflection
Our class discussion topic was senate bill
1070. I would say everyone had different viewing points and evidence. The main
argument that was brought up was that the process of becoming a legal citizen of
the United States should be way shorter. With this argument I do agree with
that but, I don’t think they should make it completely shorter and easy because
just like anywhere else before going to a new country you should show the
respect of learning the countries cultures and lifestyles. Also, it was brought
up that it shouldn’t be a requirement to speak English when you migrate to America. I
completely disagree with that, if you’re moving to the US and not going to
learn English then what’s the point of coming here? It’s not like all of the US
knows, or will learn your language when you come to America it should be a
requirement to learn English. In our discussion the main point that I brought
up is that I think it’s selfish for illegal parents to illegally start a
family, or move their family here. Let me tell you why, if my parents told me
one day that we all were being deported and we have to go back where we came
from and we can never come back, I would absolutely hate it especially if I have
made friends, have a boyfriend and just have a lifestyle here in the US. Why
not just go to the process of coming here legally and not have to risk putting
your children through that or making your whole family commit a crime when it wasn’t
their choice to commit. Another argument was that most immigrants come here to
get a better life. Ok I agree with that but my question is why wasn’t their
life alright where they were living in the first place, and what makes them so
sure it’ll be fine anywhere else? These were the main arguments that really
caught my attention during our class discussion. My opinion if not obvious,
that senate bill 1070 should be passed because illegal immigration is a crime
and why should they get away with that when all criminals go to jail or get
punished always. Why should illegal immigrants be treated any different then
criminals do?

Islamic Mosue Reflection
In Our class discussion I found out many peoples outlook on the building of a Islamic Mosque near Ground Zero. Many of their opinions I disagreed with but we all have to remember were all different and we all have different opinions. It was brought up in class that as being Americans we have not a privilege but a right to practice whatever freedom we want to practice simply because living here in America gives us the right. Also, it says nowhere in the First amendment about location. Many people in the class argued this and also that this would be A opportunity to unite with the Muslim community and make things better. They also brought up that yes, the location where the proposed mosque will be built is a very bad location but they said the mosque will fix the community and make people better. What interested me was how people think this relates to the bombing of Pearl Harbor and how we retaliated with putting Japanese in interment camps as our payback. In class, not too many people had disagreements with the idea of building a mosque near ground zero. I think for our first discussion it went very well and very mature for young adults I think discussions like this make one-another realize for younger people we think like adults on some things too.
But I agree with MOST things that were said in our discussion but there are still some things that were not brought up. First, if the mosque is really going to fix the community for the better, how? By everyone turning Muslim? Also, if one of our family member one, two, three, maybe more died one nine-eleven do you think they still would be for the building of the mosque? To me we all have our opinions but until we put our self in their shoes, we honestly don’t have one that matters. Yes our country is a freedom of religion but, “you don’t have to be prejudice against Muslims to know that ground zero is a sacred place”. To me the Muslims are being selfish and over-bearing their rights. Our world isn’t a perfect one it’s the craziness that gets people by everyday and one thing after another ads up and a little controversy like this one shouldn’t even be discussed. This is why I think nothing should be built their but maybe a memorial to the victims.

Ground zero is a place of hurt, pain, but also respect and any other religious center would should have to respect it as well.
